Out of all the promotional pieces I made for Down South Rail House, this is one of my favorites. I was approached by the drummer of our house band to make a flyer promotion.
DSR is a blue collar country bar that prides itself ….has a lot of taxidermy hanging on its walls. At the time, I had been taking Photography for Designers at Art Institute and became very interested contemporary work of Hiroshi Sugimoto’s work, particularly his Diorama series. Diorama was a series of photographs taken of animal/habitat displays at the museum of natural history. The result felt hyper realistic.
Inspired I borrowed several pieces from the bar and photographed them in various types of studio lighting. This image represented… The type of orange used in the piece is a slightly deeper variant of international orange, the color hunter use to keep other hunters from accidently shooting other hunters.
Original photograph I took of Young Buck.
