Stepping into the 3rd Dimension

I took a wood carving class for my birthday. I always thought of myself as being strictly a 2D sort of guy but after a few classes I was hooked. Shortly after the wood carving classes began my friend pushed me to try and work with clay as well even though i feel im just a 2d creator. Trusting my dear friend (and taking on basically a dare)  I began playing with clay and fell in love with this medium as well. Just goes to show that loved ones sometimes know you in ways thaty ou may not know yourself.

Below is my new budding love andexploration of the 3D world. I dont know what will become of this new passion but I am truly having the time of my life creating it. I feellike a little kid right now, uninhibited by artistic dogmas and unfair expectations and just truly enjoying the feeling of new discovery and play. As you will see I'm really into minerals and I incorporate theminto my sculptures. I believe stones possess magic and beneficial properties and I want my art to have a purpose beyond just the aesthetic. I hope you dig. cheers- Drew
