I had the idea to this picture quite a while ago. Inspired by the harsh beauty of Berlin and the an artist that I admire since a long time: Eric Johanson. Check out his work! Other then him I did not build the landscape as a prop, but used the displacement filter. The matrix is painted and so are the reflections on top of the waves.
That´s the basic photograph, shot with SONY Alpha 7R Mk2 and CANON EF 12,8 24-70mm USM. Classic combination i guess.
The main building replaces the somewhat newish looking brick hall and adds a lot of structure to the image. I just changed the color from red to almost white and painted the shadows it needed.
Paul the sailor is just a little but important detail. He understood very quickly how to behave when sailing a sailing dinghy. Clap hands!!
