SciencePAD
 
 
SciencePAD is an initiative to coordinate and promote the use of open source software for scientific research in European Union.
 
Logo, posters and motion graphics introductory video.
 
 
The main symbol consists of 2 circular forms, bount together to form the letter S.
 
 
The upper form has a double meaning.
It refers to science, resembling the atom or the orbit of the planets.
Secondly, it notions to the idea of a community,
that gathers around a central spot.
The lower form depicts an optical disc (CD).
A universally recognisable symbol for storing data,
thus referring to the concept of software.
Both forms are open shapes which notions to the idea of open (free) software.
They also intersect, stating collaboration between the fields of science and software.
Osaka-Mono was chosen in order to refer to software code
which is rendered in such monospaced typefaces.
