Eight page layout design for an article on animal communication, focussing on a female chimpanzee named Washoe who was taught American Sign Language as part of a research experiment on animal language acquisition.

The layout was created in InDesign and intended for publication in a weekend newspaper supplement.

The text is a combination of different articles on the subject which I edited together. As the events covered took place during the 1970s and ’80s, there was a limited number of usable photographs available and they were of fairly low quality, so I added duotone effects in Photoshop to improve their appearance.
