Team Relocation Project

Goal: To learn to research a topic, create a basic mood board, and create a color scheme from images.

For this project…
• pick a professional sports team to move
• pick a new city for them (note: you do not change the team’s name)
• find images of the destination city and choose a new color palette based on the images
• sketch and create a basic text-based logo

Process:
1. Choose a team to move and a new city to move them to. Pick any team and city.

2. Collect imagery that strongly represents the city chosen. City landmarks, popular statues, photos of the city, regional flora and fauna and local industry are great subjects to draw from.

3. Develop color schemes based on each photo chosen. Determine dominant color, sub-dominant, and accent colors. The colors chosen should compliment each other and represent the chosen city. Create schemes for “home”, “away”, and “alternate”.

4. Create a logo for the team made from letters.

5. Present the research, color schemes, and new logo.

Portland has many different abbreviations, but while doing my research I found that PD was the most popular which is why I used it for my text logo.
