The 46,000 GSF Science Center, positioned at a new campus gateway, puts “science on display,” extending existing campus circulation through the complex, with large windows opening onto science labs and learning resource center. Science labs, classrooms, offices and learning center are organized into an interconnected, three building complex, clustered around a landscaped courtyard, which doubles as an outdoor classroom. The learning resource center, conceived as a pavilion in the garden, is a lantern buzzing with activity in evening hours and on weekends. A wide range of energy and resource efficiency strategies are employed throughout the design.
