Christopher S. Bond Life Sciences Center
University of Missouri - Columbia
As an independent research institute, the 240,800 GSF Life Sciences Center brings together researchers from six distinct colleges and schools to form interdisciplinary research teams exploring global solutions to issues affecting our health, food and the environment. Essential to this goal was the need for a building that would provide unsurpassed opportunities for innovative interdisciplinary approaches to agricultural and bio-medical science. The Center provides a robust complement of research laboratory and specialized support facilities, and a wide range of teamwork and social interaction spaces. The office environment is designed to accommodatethe interdisciplinary teams in clustered research neighborhoods, brought together around a sky-lit central atrium, providing enhanced cross-teaming opportunities and a shared sense of purpose. The building is sited to encourage student pedestrian circulation through the lower lobbies, café and display areas, creating learning opportunities around the research.
