This132,200 GSF building provides a wide range of specialized research andinstructional spaces in support of UCSC’s Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Toxicology and Engineering Science programs. Sited to form a principal entry into the “Science Hill” precinct of campus, the articulated plan captures and extends views into and through the surrounding redwood forest. A central daylit atrium, activated by spaces for meeting and collaborative teamwork, serves as a unifying forum, uniting these programs and stimulating cross-disciplinary explorations. The building is home to the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences (QB3).
