Working alongside Jan Spyridakis (HCDE) and Eve Riskin (EE) at the University of Washington, we are designing and usability testing a tool for faculty across the nation to use when creating workshops focused on the advancement of women and underrepresented groups in engineering fields.
I have taken on both design and research roles in this position. At the beginning I focused on understanding the workshop facilitators by talking with them and conducing surverys. I then established project goals and created a primary persona for our work.
With a clear idea of our users goals I spent time sketching and creating paper prototypes. I created the first high-fidelity prototype in Axure that I used in usability testing before our Lead Engineer began implementation. Throughout implementation of the prototype I ran pilot studies with other members of our team.
Currently, we are working on implementation, design, and content development. In October 2015 we will be conducting further usability studies with the implemented version. I will soon be posting a few screen captures of our current version.
