Saint Joseph's College Website

Saint Joseph's College of Maine
Growing up.
The Saint Joseph's College website has undergone a lot of changes during my time there. When I got there, there were no stylesheets in use, everything was done with inline styles. The college didn't have a CMS either, so managing content and navigation was a bit of a bear. The web team is also very small. Two people, myself included, who work part-time on the web.
The jump in looks from the above screenshot to the one below belie the amount of work that was done to the website. The whole site was moved by hand to a Drupal based CMS. Much of the content had to be reformatted because the previous HTML wasn't well formed.

The previous site lacked visual hierarchy, so adding that back in was one of our design goals. We also wanted the pictures to do most of the talking, so we aimed for a clean and rather stark aesthetic. I was responsible for: research, analytics analysis, information architecture, visual design and writing the CSS.
The proposed refresh in design follows many of the cues from the previous iteration, but the visual weight is flipped. The large, full-width footer providing a more solid base than the previous floating footer.

The HTML in the page template was also mostly re-written with a future responsive design in mind. This refresh benefited greatly from better analytics and more thorough analysis of them. Again, I was responsible for: research, analytics analysis, information architecture, visual design, template HTML and writing the CSS.
