Little Birds Erotica by Anaïs Nin
Anaïs Nin is perhaps the world’s most famous diarist, and is internationally known for her erotic fiction. Along with the opportunity to redesign her book Little Birds, came a great responsibility to uphold the integrity of her text.
A reoccurring theme within each story is anticipation, so the pacing of the book was very important. One of the challenges involved was being able to give hierarchy to a continuous level of text, so the typography is meant to help the readers own sense of build up with every page turned. Particular words within each story were treated more like lines of poetry, so that the reader could take their time to contemplate the meaning behind them. The subject matter of the imagery, although poetic and sensual, is not always obvious, as my intent was to let your imagination arrive at its own conclusions.
