The vulnerability of the Northern Saw-Whet Owl is conveyed by its minuscule size which has left it at a disadvantage compared to the larger species of owls. Having a camouflaged abode is essential to the dainty owl which also gains the benefit of possessing a secre- tive hunting spot. Different cultures has assigned different meaning to the owl and no other bird in human history has inspired such overwhelming emotional distress and enchantment because of its stealthy, robust nature. Greek Mythology depicts the bird of Athena as an owl for its sheer intelligence and association with the occult and otherworldly magic, while still serving as the symbol of dark- ness and evil. The Northern Saw-Whet owl can fit within the palm
of a hand and because of its miniature size and attractive features it needs the aid of human intervention to guarantee its continued survival.
