Inspired by light and shadows- looked at fahsion, photography, nature and architecture as inspiration. Inspired by the human element that brought in a certain mood and emotion.
One method of research was physically edited my imagery- bleaching photographs I had taken to mimic the exposing qualities of light- found it interesting how colours appeared that weren't there before which was interesting as light and colour are so connected in reality.
Fabrics inspired by more monochrome aspects- looking at creating a "Chiaroscuro" effect with light and dark yarns.
Also experimenting with set to affect degrees of sheerness.
Sketchbook work- Structure ideas: looking at figuring, double cloth and using gaps in the reed the create a contrast of sheer areas against more dense horizontals.
Digital printing- trying out different scales and doing colour tests before digitally printing a woven sample.
