ALL DESIGNS MADE WITH COLORED PULP, NO PAINT ONLY RECYCLED COLORED PAPER
Natalia Sánchez, Byelka Méndez and Spartacous Cacao in the paper making work shop at the Peace Project in the Laguna de Apoyo, Nicaragua. These two young women work together with the artist in creating original works of art from recycled paper that combine recycled school paper and organic fibers like banana and algae from the laguna.
Getting pulp ready for use, all paper comes from local schools and the projects own education program, fibers are gathered from local banana plantaions when old banana trees fall and begin to rot, dried algae is picked up off rocks as it is dry and sun bleached.
Simple shapes and designs on banana fiber and algae fiber, together make a more complex yet minimalist composition that embodies the spirit of the Laguna de Apoyo.

Un proyecto de arte ecológico que utiliza materiales reciclados, principalmente papel, como medio de expresión.
Tres individuos creativos colaboran en este taller gráfico de papel arte, ubicado en la Laguna de Apoyo. Bajo la dirección del artista plástico salvadoreño; Spartacous Cacao con la colaboración de Byelka Méndez y Natalia Sánchez del Valle de la Laguna, Departamento de Masaya, Nicaragua, están creando una colección de papel arte que refleja arquetipos culturales significativos.
El taller produce papel arte diariamente, gracias al apoyo del Proyecto de Paz, una fundación en desarrollo que sustenta el taller. El objetivo es lograr la autosostenibilidad a través de la venta de papel y arte.
Todo el trabajo se realiza con materiales provenientes de escuelas locales y materiales orgánicos, como la fibra de banano. Se abarca todo el proceso, desde la recolección y preparación de la materia prima hasta el diseño. La participación de niños en el proceso aporta un dinamismo único a esta obra contemporánea.
