BMX legend Dave Mirra has put the 24 X Games medals behind him and turned his focus to Triathlon. As one of Cervélo's brand ambassadors it was a thrill to design this custom P5 that reflects Dave's entrance into the triathlon world. 

 

The sound of the canon firing to start Ironman Lake Placid in 2012 was Dave's moment of realization that this is where he wanted to be. An emotional reaction to all the time and training these athletes had put into that one instance at the start line. It was from that one event that Dave decided to pursue triathlon and I've attempted to capture that moment in this bike.

 

The explosion and sound that comes forward graphically from the power source at the rear wheel, like an object being flung forth from that canon in Lake Placid. The black on black reflects Dave's personality while still allowing some light into the dark spacing by incorporating chrome onto the inside stays and fork blades.
