The Bully Project Mural: All Sorts

The Bully Project Mural: All Sorts
Adobe partnered with Lee Hirsch, the director of the documentary “Bully” to produce a work to help spread the word about the movement. The Bully Mural is an experimental project in which 16 selected artists from around the globe work independently to create one unified piece of art. The full mural will be on show in October 2014 at Adobe MAX in Los Angeles.

While bullying remains a source of painful memories for most, my approach latched onto the positive impact that the documentary, ‘Bully’, created upon its release. This overdue presentation of an unaddressed, misunderstood and complex part of growing up helps society properly acknowledge this as a legitimate problem which in itself is a massive feat. It works to celebrate community, promotes interaction, accept differences and above all convey that we are better together than apart.

My response is based on this movement of acceptance and embraces celebrating our differences. The idea was to use differing patterns and colors on confectionary, an inseperable part of childhood, as the visual metaphor.
