Typeface are like voice, revealing the rhythm, volume and color of language. My font is based on Winchester Cathedral; denoting its architectural structure. The font family consists of Arch Standard and Arch Decoration. From hymn book to signage. The design of my typeface demonstrates a synchronicity between the cathedral’s architectures and its literature.  As language is the form of verbal and physical expression, so type transforms this process into the written, sung and spoken world.

Arch Font family is consist of "Standard" and “Decoration” and the font sets is available to intall in the computer. the concept was influenced by the shape of the arch from cathedral buildings but each set has different style. The set of "Standard" is include "Sans" and "Serif" that are applied for body text or subtitles. "Sans" is  more simple but "Serif" retains subtle  detail of serif typeface. The “Decoration” have both  “Flank” and “Celling” style that are designed for title or phrases.  “Flank”  was developed from architecture flank that the font has stronger visual impact and movement. “Celling”  looks more dense and it was originated from vision of celling of the cathedral.

I seeked the refleshing way to amplify the concept by blending the design in the surroundings. For example, using wooden composite panel, canvas, cardboard and tracing paper. I adopted screen printing, spray, tailoring and laser print in the process. Most of these ideas were  influenced by the cultural treasure of Winchester Cathedral,  such as architechure, flags, bibles and boutique of local exhibits. The outcome such as font sets are shown on designed flags. Posters and hymn book are full of visual hierarchy and touchbale. The general color hue was come from catheral buildings,  but the idea of applying gold, green, blue and red to the text was came from illuminated manuscripts.
