Insignificance - Microfiction by Matt Barker
"The universe made me feel small but it never made me feel insignificant. I am a dust mite, listening to other dust mites scream into the void. Because the alternative is silence."
There were several formal considerations that I wanted to play with in this image. First, I wanted to create an orthographic space and see what kind of depth of field I could still achieve within this confined space. Second, I wanted to play with the presence/absence of the figure. Notice he is composed of negative space and has creates no shadows.
And then of course, my brother created a masterful story to accompany the imagery. It's always fun to include little Easter eggs from our ever expanding universe.
