Subculture Icons
Icon / Character Design
The task is to create five icons that represent the defining elements of each subculture, including fashion, hairstyles, vehicles, environment, behaviours, colour, and attitudes. The Target Audience is for people who can read information from symbols. Appreciating what drives an audience at a psychological and physiological level affords a designer the insight to tailor a design solution to this specific market.
The subculture that I chose are
Punks | Gamers | Rockabilly | Ravers | Steampunk
Punks
icon incorporates visual cues such as a mohawk hairstyle, spiked
accessories, and an edgy facial expression. These elements symbolize
rebellion and nonconformity, which are integral to punk culture.
Gamers
Gamers icon incorporate elements of their unique language, and the hardware
and equipment, such as PS5, Switch, earphone and monitor.
Rockabilly
It incorporate visual cues such as vintage dresses, the style depicting
bold patterns, bright colors(red), and red lips. Hairstyles often feature
pompadours, quiffs, and victory rolls. The bottle it holding is depicting their
rebellion attitude.
Steampunk
Steampunk fashion typically incorporates Victorian-era clothing, such as
corsets, top hats, and goggles, with futuristic or industrial elements, such as
gears, goggles, and metal accessories like compass.
Ravers
It showcase elements related to electronic dance music (EDM)
culture, such as colorful neon lights, big and shiny accessories, sparkly
makeup.
