Technology Trends in 2024 - Alok Kashyap
Technology has not only become a part of our everyday lives but is now driving the way we live. If I talk about my day, Alok Kashyap’s day it is impossible to imagine my life without technology. You take a moment and think of this can you live without technology in this tech-submerged era? I think your answer would be no only. Technology has brought us the convenience of multiple things and has made our lives easy.

Now taking a professional turn, if I talk about technology, well it seems like I have been working in tech for a decade now and working so closely with tech, I can say that this year has been full of innovations and exciting technological breakthroughs that have transformed society and the global economy. Certain technologies are cutting-edge and have even gained recognition for their massive scalability.

The technology is only growing as we approach the future. The tech industry's fast-paced innovation makes the future everything but predictable. Nobody can predict how technology will mold—whether technology will be a part of people's lives or people will be a part of technology.

The rate of change is accelerating due to the rapid evolution of technology, which makes change possible more quickly. But a lot more has changed, and technology trends and emerging technologies are not the only things that are changing. This realization has made IT professionals recognize that their jobs in the contactless world of the future will alter. Furthermore, a 2024 IT professional will be continuously learning, unlearning, and relearning (if not out of choice, then out of necessity).

As digital evolution does not stand still for a moment, so let me take you on a tech revolution journey to look at the future and spotlight the technologies and technological innovations that will be marked in 2024.

Generative AI

This year's biggest innovation was the widespread use of generative AI so what do you understand by Generative AI? In simple terms, with the help of generative AI, one may generate new content using a range of inputs. These AI models accept text, photos, music, animation, 3D models, and other kinds of data as inputs and outputs. The most recent known hero in generative AI which everyone has heard of and also using is “ChatGPT”.  We have already seen language- and image-based AI models in the public domain, but the full picture of AI is still being developed. In my opinion, the next year of generative AI will solely depend on the factor of “whether AI shapes the course of humanity positively or negatively”.

Space Tech

The second one in the line would be Space Tech. The year 2023 was historic for the space industry. Next year promises to be even more advanced, with private businesses like SpaceX demonstrating their prowess with roughly 100 Falcon 9 rocket flights in a single year.
We saw that the most potent rocket ever constructed was also attempted to be launched by SpaceX, however, both failed mid-flight. But the eagerly awaited Starship launch is probably going to happen next year.
Overall, I think the year ahead for the space industry is promising.

Extended Reality

Extended Reality(XR) is a term for Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR), for a variety of applications in the workplace, healthcare, and gaming, among others. Companies have introduced XR services. They are offering many XR solutions for the enterprise as XR solutions can reduce costs, increase revenue and productivity, and improve customer experience.
The US tech firm Apple demonstrated its virtual reality headgear in 2023 and showed off some of its likely applications.
As I read more about extended reality, I think in the coming age it will evolve to many extents.

Quantum Computing

I was recently reading an article about “Is it time to get ready for quantum computing” and in many reviews and discussions being held the answer was “Yes”. I also agree with the same as the advancements in the field of quantum computing are evolving and when made practical, quantum computing has the potential to positively impact some of the most important facets of human life.
I think quantum computing will not only solve complex programs tenfold quicker than any current computer can, but it will also contribute to material science, AI, drug research, and healthcare and drug discovery.
Many concrete results also show that it could affect the average person's daily life. Nevertheless, it may take some time for these advantages to be fully understood and used.

IoT

We are living in an era where Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and networks of linked objects are essential for constructing the metaverse, enhancing the functionality of smart machines, and planning cities of the future.
Tech companies are adapting industrial IoT, The use of IoT technology in industrial settings, particularly about the management of sensors and devices that use cloud technologies, is referred to as industrial IoT (IIoT). Machine-to-machine (M2M) communication has been employed recently by the industry to accomplish wireless automation and control.
There is still much to be done, as estimates indicate that by 2030 there will be about 50 million IoT devices in operation. As more data is gathered and examined, this might build a vast network of linked devices that provide firms with increased security, efficiency, and decision-making capabilities.

Bottom Line

So these were some of my insights on the technology trends in 2024. As we move forward the one thing we are certain about is change is the only constant and this change is not going to slow down.
However, we can make sure that this forward motion takes us toward a future that is inclusive, safe, sustainable, and technologically sophisticated. As we commit to responsible innovation and welcome these changes with optimism, we can create a future that will be to everyone's advantage.
