Psylocke, uma personagem dos quadrinhos da Marvel Comics, tem sua origem na história de Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock. Ela estreou em 1976, na edição #96 de "Captain Britain", criada por Chris Claremont e Herb Trimpe. Inicialmente uma telepata britânica sem habilidades físicas especiais, Betsy foi capturada pelo vilão Mojo e teve seu corpo danificado, sendo posteriormente ressuscitada no corpo de Kwannon, uma ninja japonesa. Essa transformação resultou na fusão de suas mentes e habilidades, tornando-a uma poderosa telepata e lutadora. Assim, Psylocke nasceu, com sua notável habilidade psíquica e destreza em artes marciais, tornando-se uma integrante chave dos X-Men.
