Making yoga fun with friends
The Problem

1. Many people want to learn and practice yoga, but don't know where to start.
2. In-person classes at a local yoga studio can be expensive and inaccessible for a lot of people.
3. Youtube videos and other yoga apps on the market are not engaging and lacks accountability.

"How might we make yoga at home more enjoyable?"
User Research
1. User Interviews
2. Google Form Survey

Key Insights
- Safety, proximity and accessibility, and difficulty was the top 3 things users find most important when deciding their work outs.
- The majority of people work out 2-3 days a week, with the main goal of staying healthy.
- Many people, especially students, like variety in their work out sessions with the majority of avid exercisers averaging 2-3 different types of exercise a week.
Ideation

Divergent Thinking:

I brainstormed 10 different solutions and features that I can include in a at-home yoga app that would increase user retention rates.

- Gamify the experience
- Give rewards for a continued streak
- Involve a social aspect
- Create teams with your friends to compete across the platform
- Make it as easy and approachable as possible
- Compete amongst your friends
- Involve novelty in each exercise
- Massive library of yoga moves
- Don’t make it feel like a chore
- Track balance using apple watch

Convergent Thinking

I then decided to create a yoga app that implements a gamified, social, and user friendly experience that allows young and busy yoga-novices to bring a lot of variety and control in their workouts. With this newfound idea, I created a rough user flow for this tentative app.

Insights from Usability Testing

1. "Confused about how the app works" --> create a page to pair personal fitness devices (Apple Watch, Fitbit, Oura Ring, etc.) when you first open the app.
2. "Not sure what the button on the landing exercise page does" --> include drop down icons
3. "I would feel more motivated to work out!" --> put more emphasis and expanded the social pages and leaderboard statistics.
