The Nightwings
This is a Fanart based on the book series 'Wings of Fire' by Tui Sutherland. The summary of the artwork is also based off on the second arc of the series and a standalone book, 'The Legend of the Darkstalker' written by her.
The Final Artwork
Summary
The artwork depicts the hands (rather, claws) of an anti-villain, Darkstalker. Darkstalker was an exceptionally powerful animus dragon hailing from the Nightwing tribe. Here it shows him performing magic on a sapphire star. This star, Dreamvisitor, was created by him before he lost his innocence in hands of his own powers. It allows him to check on his friends and family by visiting them through dreams.
The eye on the right belongs to his beloved, Clearsight. A Nightwing herself, she has the power to see multiple outcomes of actions in the future. She was one of the very few dragons who stood beside Darkstalker and watched him turn. Despite her consistent efforts, she could not save him from corruption and ended up betraying him. She played a pivotal by sealing him in a cave and setting him into a deep slumber. She later fled to an unknown land to cope with the loss of her beloved and to start a new life away from everything she knew.
The eye to the left belongs to his student, Moonwatcher. Centuries later, when Darkstalker awoke, he found himself trapped and reached out for help. Moonwatcher, a young Nightwing dragonet with special ability of prophecy and mind reading, answered his call. She and her friends embarked on a journey to complete a prophecy she once spoke. Darkstalker, using telepathy, mentored her through different walks of life and helped her harness control over her own powers. This led Moon to believe, despite their history books, that Darkstalker still had a part of him which was not corrupted and that he still had a chance to go back and redeem himself. However, her hopes were dashed when Darkstalker, after being freed, showed his true colors. She, though reluctant at first, did play a major role in sealing him off once again. This time, in the form of a dragonet. She now plays a pivotal role in raising him as a new dragon.
