Developing artwork for an artist who is dynamic calls for a strategy that calls for a lot at the start, then a process of carving the fat from the meat.

Ms. Isis sent me an open brief to which I could "do whatever". This type of brief always sounds like a trap of countless hours, trying everything and really not getting much done. 

Below is the first draft. 

Copy is solid and bold. Her face has different "patterns" that communicate the different roles she plays. A mother, a sister, a friend, a producer, an artist etc.

The "gold" wavy lines aim to visually communicate the sultriness' of her voice and approach to music. 

The backstory was cool, but the visual didn't punch me in the face. So it was back to the drawing board. 

After numerous iterations I went back to a style I have been tinkering with. Art Nouveau The florals and swooping ribbons was my main focus. Slowly something happened.
