Barn Owl Project

The Barn Owl is an endangered species of bird that inhabits the Carolinian Zone. The Barn Owl is primarily known for its fluffy, white appearance, and that they favour making their nest in wooden barns. Unfortunately, because of numerous factors such as pesticide use, urbanization, lack of food, and road mortality, this species is almost extinct. 

For this project, I wanted to focus on a sustainability perspective. I was so upset to read that the exact places where these birds inhabit (silos, barns, abandoned buildings, etc.), are the exact places that humans tear down, deforest, and/or disturb. With the use of the Barn Owl in my repeat design, I will be catering to a specific kind of millennial, ages 28-43. The product that will feature this design, will try to promote a classy, soft aesthetic. The target audience are millennials that make an average income of $60,000-$85,000/year.
