A live D&AD project for design blog It’s Nice That. The brief for this project was to promote It’s Nice That to their original following—students—including those who already know of It’s Nice That and those who are yet to discover what it has to offer.

 

From the start I was adamant that however I chose to engage with students—that it must connect with students at the start of their University career. Something that I remember from when I first moved into my University Halls of Residence was a small box of goodies placed on my bedroom desk waiting for your first arrival. In this box there were delicious samples, promotional vouchers, toiletries and more.

 

I thought it could be a great opportunity to approach these first year students with the hope of getting them involved in It’s Nice That. The concept was to include a small branded package inside all first year students’ welcome box. Inside the It’s Nice That branded parcel is three unique cards: the first gives a bit of background information about It’s Nice That and what it is that they do, the second card promotes a designer or artist’s piece of work that is currently being exposed on It’s Nice That and finally the third card is the student's unique raffle entry— from which they can win a whole host of art and design related goodies.

 

To better showcase how this concept and competition works I created a short two-minute video demonstrating a student finding, viewing and subsequently entering their raffle code online to see if they’re a winner. In terms of prizes—I thought it was vital to include items which will really get the student’s creative juices flowing such as: the bi-annual It’s Nice That publication, annual magazine subscriptions and art and design materials.
