Man Utd loanee's 'SON best friend' makes surprise return
It's a surprise. The left-back who left for Manchester United has made a surprise return to Tottenham Hotspur.

Sergio Reguilon, who is also a close friend of Son Heung-min, has returned to Tottenham.

Global sports media outlet 'The Athletic' reported on February 2, "Tottenham have triggered the release clause in Leguilon's loan deal with Manchester United. Reggilon has returned to Tottenham." There had been a lot of speculation about his early return, but there was no accurate news. However, the media outlet reported that Tottenham called him as soon as the winter transfer window opened.

Born in Spain in 1996, Leguillon played for top clubs in his country, including Real Madrid and Sevilla, before joining Spurs for the 2020-2021 season. He was a regular starter in his first two seasons, but then fell out of contention. He was loaned out to Atletico Madrid, where he struggled and ended up on the operating table.

He returned to Tottenham this season. His position was not solid. He was lucky enough to be loaned to United, who were short of left-backs due to a series of injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrrell Malacia.

Leguillon's time at United was uneventful. He started out as a backup and moved into the rotation. He played nine Premier League games (four starts), two UEFA Champions League games, and one League Cup game.

"With Shaw returning to fitness and Malacia close to returning from injury, Leguillon's playing time has diminished. As a result, the two clubs have agreed to terminate the loan."

For Tottenham, there was no point in sending him out on loan if his playing time at United was diminishing. Spurs sent the 19-year-old striker on loan to English Championship (second tier) Ipswich Town for the first half of this season and ordered his return late last year after he played every game as a substitute.

However, it is unclear if Leguillon will play the rest of the season for Tottenham. According to the publication, "Leguillon could go out on loan elsewhere in the winter transfer window to get more game time."

At left back, Spurs are currently using Destiny Udogie, who returned from a loan spell with Italian Serie A side Udinese last 토토사이트 season. Udogie has been one of the best left-backs in the Premier League this season. In addition, Ryan Sessegnon is set to return from a long-term injury. That said, Reguilon's place at Tottenham is still not secure.

German giants Borussia Dortmund are the most likely destination for Leguillon.
