In the world of Ekfrasia, one thing is priority: existence. It is a series that is a testament of my fragility and proneness to existential crisis. Nothing hurls me faster into melancholia than thinking about the small things that make up our lives. Nothing matters and everything matters at the same time. I don't care, yet I care too deeply. It's both madness and beauty. We can be mad and beautiful at the same time. This series is about the realization of multiplicity in one vessel. That two things, three things, multiple things can be true all at once. Ekfrasia is deconstruction and reconstruction. Ekfrasia is questioning and unlearning. Ekfrasia is inspired by poetry and essays on the human experience. It is a dreamlike world that mirrors the woes and desires of the human heart at this point in time. Ekfrasia is irrational, illogical, unreasonable, insensible. The reality we’ve always known is changing and there's nothing we can do to stop it, and I communicate that idea through this art series. Ekfrasia is a declaration of love. If people can hate for no reason, Ekfrasia is to love for no reason. To hope for no reason. To have faith, to be brave, to smile, to help, to give, to care for no reason. Ekfrasia is a world of glimmers in our spirit and the romanticization of small things, softly alluding to the utopic realm of Arcadia.
