The Recipe Handbook of 2050
This project focuses on the microplastic issue which human intake. The cookbook contains three versions: Growth, Stagnation and Decrease, which implies the different scenarios of waste plastic usage in 2050 and the amount of microplastic humans might consume.

In the course, we explored data and information on plastic issues in everyday life through assignments and workshops. In the plastic recycling workshop, I found myself inadvertently consuming a lot of plastic, especially plastic packaging, for food. Therefore, this made me start to think about the relationship between the food we consume and plastics.

I collected plastic datasets, including sources of plastic waste generation, microplastic generation and sources, microplastics in the environment, and future projections. After that, the data was initially summarized, the relationship between the data sets was explored, and the correlation was established.

To find a suitable medium for communication, I researched the audience's background. In addition, Data Feminism (2016), the principle of "Legitimize Embodiment and Affect", mentions that try to leverage embodied and affective experience to enhance visualization design and engage users. Hence, I also merged my personal experience into the project. Finally, I chose 'Handwritten/ Hand Drawn Recipes' as my communication medium because it represents the love of family caregivers for their families, and handwriting has irreplaceable emotional characteristics in modern society.
