Exploration of form and counter-form involving various typefaces.

This design started with the exploration of seven different typefaces. By examining the unique characteristics in each of the letters and numbers and focusing on the width, saturation, stroke, and letter contrast. You can get a feel for what each typeface communicates. The goal for my final design was to show a three-tiered hierarchy while also exhibiting closure and continuation in a clean way.
Most prominently, my design features a large number 5 styled in Helvetica. Despite being a neutral and safe font, such as an accountant or other nine to five cubicle profession, it is one of the most common fonts. A similarly stable, practical font, Stempel Garamond is also featured as well as the rigid Rockwell. On the other end of the spectrum, I used the posh Fette Fraktur to provide contrast alongside the elegant Bauer Bodoni. Within the middle of the design spectrum lie Futura Std Medium and Platelet, adding their approachable and clever design elements.
The culmination of these seven fonts in this hierarchy delivers a representation of closure and continuation showcasing each of their unique personalities.
