James Cameron, the Oscar-winning director of “Avatar,” “Titanic,” “Aliens,” and many more, is one of the few filmmakers in history who has successfully balanced spectacle, anticipation, and pure craft. I planned to write Avatar the way of water review as soon as i watched it as i was mesmerised by its graphics and storytelling. When the odds are stacked against him, Cameron always manages to find a way to pull off the impossible with his trademark brand of cinematic magic. Therefore, it is appropriate that “Avatar: The Way of Water” is the narrative of a family that fights against all obstacles. And that Cameron has dedicated a full decade’s worth of effort and cinematic momentum to portraying this story.
So put your concerns to rest, for one of cinema’s great blockbuster artists has returned, and he has crafted the best movie of 2022 that is so visually stunning that it makes the first “Avatar” seem like a low budget affair. Let me share why it’s a must watch
Dense plot with capturing story
When Avatar 2 premieres, Jake Sully and his wife Neytiri spent the previous decade-plus living in relatively peaceful life. Raising a family in the woodlands of Pandora that contains sons Neteyam and Lo’ak, daughter and adopted daughter Kiri.
With a length of more than 3 hours, Cameron ensures that Avatar 2 has much more story than just this basic arc, from the addition of a peculiar human wanderer who plays with the Sully kids to the customs and traditions of the reef clans itself. The original “Avatar” had the benefit of featuring Jake as the protagonist, a human in a Na’vi body exploring the marvels of Pandora for the very first time. We get to experience it again in “The Way of Water,” via the Sully children, as they discover what a whole other ecology on their world appears and feels like, and it’s even more beautiful than the previous film.
Use of 3D to next level
The sequel, as you may have guessed from the Avatar the way of water review, has extensive underwater shooting, which presents its own unique challenges. How, for instance, can one go about shooting in 3D when submerged in water? Underwater photography requires bulky camera setups that distort the picture since the camera must aim through the housing’s ports. Cameron brought in director of photography and camera technology expert Pawel Achtel to create a 3D underwater camera, a first for a major motion picture.
Visual spectacle like no other
For over two hours of the film’s 192-minute runtime, you’ll feel like you’ve been dropped into the middle of an ocean. Complete with microscopic phosphors fishes as well as other huge and small aquatic organisms that have a strange connection with our marine biology. The undersea marine branch of souls is also shown to us. In Avatar 2, one of the Na’vi’s magical allies is a butterfly-like creature that improves the Na’vi’s ability to breathe underwater. you will later agree with my Avatar the way of water review as you will stare, rapt, as you try to take everything in while watching the movie. To add to the tension, I recommend seeing it in IMAX 3D. Finally, I must applaud James Cameron for revealing another wonderful facet of Pandora.
