Not To Be Reproduced

Not to be Reproduced was one of the three works that the British poet Edward James commissioned in 1937, and it's actually a portrait of the patron himself. Imagining the context in which it was originally shown, as a sort of illusion created with lights and mirrors make the motifs within the painting even more exciting. Its one of my favorite Paintings of Rene Magritte, Its not
stunning, massive, and nothing like other surreal paintings that's how Magritte's paintings usually are they are "thought Provoking" they generate many questions. Here the Subject Edward James is not reflected but reproduced into a Mirror which is absurd.

The simplicity of Magritte is what makes it beautiful! It is the thing which generated this urge to recreate few of his paintings which I admire the most!
The Shining

The Shining is a recreation of an old Artwork of mine, which was inspired from the film "the Shining" directed by Stanley Kubrick. It was a Thought Provoking experience for me.

Like a Surreal Painting the film was also very Absurd.

The Concept of Telepathy in the film is what inspired and generated an original idea which turned out to be an amature Painting. What I wanted to show in this Photograph was that the Art work hanging on the museum wall is actually speaking to the observer, its Introducing ideas into the Observer's mind and they are communicating. The true intention of mine was much profound and deeper which I don't want to disclose as art is Subjective.
Projection

I wanted to make a simple yet profound artwork where it delivers a deep message that I randomly got gifted with. It doesn't have to be hidden but at the same time the audience must stop and observe to find what they are actually perceiving. It must seek Attention and deliver Acceptance. So, I prepared a Story board and shot the subject accordingly. Although this might be the least worked image of mine from the bunch, its my favorite concept and delivers what I desired. Although it's really simple I leave this for your interpretation.
In To The Void

This image was inspired from the artist Kesuke koike who plays with re-arranging images and makes beautiful surreal art! This particular photograph disturbed me and also inspired me to recreate it..
What my interpretation was that he wanted the viewer's eyes to travel across the frame following the vortex like structure and end up diving deep in to the subject. It can be Reversed too where you see the eye first and travel or zoom back to feel the relief.

This photograph seeks attention.

What I feel about this photos is disturbance... the disturbance of a person and how it feels to be stuck in one. Its never ending and looped, once Your mind is Contaminated it can never be cured.
Thoughts are very powerful, the way we think changes us and effects us hugely. There's no escape from this disturbance, Even though we meditate and perform activities to gain control over the mind, Disturbance is something which cannot be moved. I believe it's constant.. although this image was inspired from the brilliant work of @kesuke(instagram) I wanted to twist it a bit and add my own imperfections to it. Hope you guys like it.
Emptiness

As the Title Suggests it is an artwork on Loneliness and nothingness. Two of the Strongest forces which can turn down any Human and can even make the strong ones weak. I wanted to show what goes inside a man who is going through depression from loneliness. and a person who has Nothing inside him. So, i wanted to frame my subject in such a way that it relects the main meaning and purpose of why im drawing or editing a frame like this.

Since, I wanted to show the empty mind of depressed man I used empty shelves. I drew the image the very first time i have been struck with this idea and always wanted to present it in a live action photo or video.

The subjects mind became a Vortex which Flows through its twists and turns, eventually leading us in to "Emptiness".
Candles

This is a Thought which has been haunting my mind since three months and finally became a thing.
I Wondered how to show a person who is constantly glowing but at the same time is exhausted. A simple idea became a profound yet shabby illustration and what I wanted to convey is the usage of candles...
When in dark we search for them like mad people and once we find them we immediately lit them up (for obvious reasons).
They give us warmth and light and we seek shelter in their shadows and as soon as the Fluorescent light hits us... we throw away the candle to be found again.
Similarly there are people who resemble candles and their nature. So I wanted to make an artwork where I could convey that.

Golconda

The piece depicts a scene of "raining men", nearly identical to each other dressed in dark overcoats and bowler hats, who seem to be either falling down like rain drops, floating up like helium balloons, or just stationed in mid-air as no movement or motion is implied.

Magritte got the name for this painting from his poet friend Louis Scutenaire, who often helped him find names for his paintings. In this case, the name Golconda refers to a city in India, which was the seat for two different kingdoms from the 14th to 17th centuries.

I was Fascinated by this painting and wondered what it would be if these baloon like men are floating on top of the actual Golconda? and thought transfered the painting into an image.

I know it might not look good or Maybe it's stupid.. at that moment I liked this idea so much.. and I don't care if the thing that I post end up being mediocre.. I believe in imperfections.. (not in all scenarios)

Teacher

The man in black most often has his back turned, as in the case of the “Teacher", or his face is hidden by something else: for example, an apple or bird... Because of this mystery, the personality of the character began to be attributed to Magritte himself. And although in those paintings where he is still depicted from the front the lack of similarity becomes obvious, the artist showcases the image of a man in a bowler hat, which has become a corporate style. He even got a matching headdress and often posed for photographers in it. Just like any other Rene Magritte Paintings Teacher too is a very deep and poetic.
It sets a mood , it has a sense of melancholy in it. The foggy Forest background, the Dusky blues and especially the Crescent moon make the Painting much more interesting and beautiful. And as soon as I saw that Painting I felt like I have to recreate it... Its more of a scene than as photograph or painting... It raised curiosity for me and i hope it does that for you too.
The watcher

Moon is always a mysteries subject. It can be both Pleasant and haunting and sometimes both. I wanted to convey that its always watching us at night and is stalking us every time. As a child we used to think that its following us and yes it has been following us but in a different way. It has been watching us and sort of Protecting us like a guardian at night I love the moon and i took this photograph way back in 2020 and ever since that I had a love towards this photograph and how the scene was and how beautiful and haunting the moon was.
I wanted to covey Moon can be haunting and disturbing and sometimes scary... and it is like a Lighthouse from the sky who always watches us from a far away.
So I took an image of an eye and added it to the frame which sort of depicts that the moon is watching and has been watching you all this time.

Son Of Man

Who Is The Son of Man? The Son of Man is a biblical reference to Jesus Christ, although this is also the title of a painting by the Surrealist artist René Magritte. The artist painted The Son of Man in 1964, which depicts a man in a gray suit with a green apple floating in front of his face. Magritte was commissioned to paint a self-portrait in 1963, and so he began to work on The Son of Man. He found it difficult to paint a self-portrait in the traditional fashion, so he leaned more towards the surrealist style, finding self-portraits to be a "problem of conscience."

Son of man is such a painting which drives the viewers eye straight to the subject and creates questions and thoughts instantly. I feel like Rene Magritte is a Thought Provoking Painter... He inspired me a lot and I felt like have to give a homage to the genius. This is my Favorite painting o Magritte and I don't think I have enough justice to this "recreation". I fee like its my version of Son Of Man, I like imperfections and i added my own style and details while making this photograph. The agree that the photoshop work is not on point and don't mind the criticism too... I wanted this artwork to look more like a photo than a painting so that's is the reason it is what it is right now.. Hope You Guys Like it..
