Artisan goat cheese labels "La cabra tira al monte"
2018-Present
Context
"La Cabra Tira al Monte" is the project of an agricultural engineer from the Sierra de Cuenca who, unable to find work, starts grazing his father's goats. As a hobby, he begins experimenting with cheese making and, seeing positive results, decides to embark on a business venture involving extensive livestock farming and the production of different types of cheeses.

His project receives several entrepreneurship grants, allowing him to build larger facilities and acquire more goats. He decides to create his own brand and labels, reaching out to me for assistance. His herd grazes year-round, feeding according to the seasons and supplemented with feed during the winter.

The product
The products consist of four types of cheese and two types of yogurt. All of them are handcrafted using goat's milk. The cheese varieties include blue cheese, aged cheese, Camembert, and fresh cheese. The yogurt is natural, and there is also a version with elderberry jam, which is sourced from a local provider who makes it homemade.
The company name, cheese names, and logo were provided by the client.

Resolving the label
When designing the labels, the objective was to create a simple line of labels that evoke the craftsmanship and handmade nature of the products, while also using distinct elements to differentiate them from each other.

Therefore, I decided to make the labels with a white background, creating a simple mountain-shaped color block at the bottom that would contain the name of the cheese. The top portion, where the logo appears, remains white with the logo to maintain a consistent branding style. Additionally, the circle framing the cheese adopts the color associated with each cheese variety.

The chosen colors correlate with the type of cheese:
· Green for the fresh cheese
· Yellow for the aged cheese
· White for the Camembert cheese, reflecting its creaminess
· Blue for the blue cheese
· Pink for both the plain and elderberry jam yogurt.

Due to the need to include a significant amount of legally required content, it was decided to place the ingredients and nutritional values around the circle on the label. This approach gives the design more breathing space and achieves a well-balanced label.
The results
As a result, we achieved an identifiable design across all products while easily differentiating each one. In future steps, we have plans for a redesign, but the colors will remain as they have been widely embraced by customers.
