Minimalism Brochure

Project Statement:
This project aims to create a brochure containing at least 12 pages on InDesign using typography best practices and printing out the final version as a mockup. The topic for the brochure is minimalism and how people can get started in this lifestyle. Clean, simple, minimalist-like imagery is throughout this brochure for the reader to get ideas on what their life can become if they start minimalism. The choice to use a variety of warm neutral colors aligns best with the minimalist aesthetic. The brochure uses Parisine Plus Std Gris Bold and Parisine Plus Std Clair Bold because the fonts are clean and easy to read while also having some character to give some visual interest.
Research:
For my research, I first wanted to get a better understanding of minimalism from the experts. I looked at well known minimalist such as the minimalists, the plain simple life blog from Vourneen, and other minimalist blogggers. From my research I found information about the pros and cons of minimalist, what the purpose of minimalism is, how minimalism goes hand and hand with sustainability and mental health, and more. On this spread, I have the website articles that I referenced for my brochure copy.
Pinterest Board Inspiration:
For my inspiration, I chose to go on pinterest and create a mood board. I chose pinterest because the platform offers a variety of inspo pictures where I was able to look at color paletes, interior design, and minimalism lifestyle. From theres searches, I selected 31 images that aligned with warm neutral colors and clean aesthetics. From my board, I pulled out colors and started to search for imagery that was free for commercial use that I could include in the brochure.
Thumbnails:
For my thumbnails. I wanted to represent a clean, minimalist style  with simple shapes, such as circles, lines, and rectangles. I also wanted to use gradients to provide visual interest. After I completed the thumbnails, I talked to my professor and decided to add imagery on pages. From my thumbnails, I started to deisgn my brochure in InDesign.
Color Study:
For my color study, I pulled colors from the Pinterest board I created. I was specifically looking for neutrals in a variety of shades. I decided on a warm color palette with shades of brown, blue and green to create interesting gradients and cohesive color pairings.
Type Study:
For my type study, I used Parisine Plus Std Gris Bold and Parisine Plus Std Clair Bold. This font family is simple and clean, but has more character than fonts like Arial and Helvetica. Parisine Plus Std Gris Bold is used for headlines and subheads while Parisine Plus Std Clair Bold is used for body copy and smaller fonts like page numbers.
