Don’t unsubscribe! The Blue & You is a quarterly enewsletter from Pacific Blue Cross that reaches over 300,000 customers. I redesigned the layout in late-2022, and consider it to be somewhat of a living document as I continue to refine and improve the look and feel.
The new design is short and sweet — 5 articles maximum with just enough copy to interest someone to deep dive if they so desire. Vibrant images run full width at a fixed height which allows any article to easily change position within the newsletter, and it’s all built on a 8-point grid to bring consistency/rhythm to the layout. While the 2 primary/3 secondary article layout is shown here, a 3 primary/2 secondary layout has proven easiest to work with and is what is currently being used.
