Background: EmpowHer New York was founded by Ingrid Silva as a platform to create a safe environment for women to share their history in a judgment-free zone. EmpowHer NY also encourages dialogue in an empathetic term. Skindeep is a project which aimed to reveal the context of how race-based traumatic stress is an open wound. To further contextualize our story in the long arc of racism throughout US history, we utilized news stories about racism from the past century as the canvas for the website.

Role: To help establish race-based traumatic stress as a debilitating contributor to mental health in Black and Brown women, my team and I created the website to inspire people of color and allies to recognize and address it and then to engage in healing. As the lead copywriter, my goal was to provide users with information regarding race-based trauma and direct them to resources to help cope with the stress.

The homepage hosted the animated video we created to illustrate and emphasize the effects of race-based trauma. The homepage also further explained the trauma.
