Lazca, Türkiye'nin Doğu Karadeniz bölgesinde ve Gürcistan'ın bazı bölgelerinde konuşulan, Unesco'nun Tehlike Altındaki Diller Atlası'na göre "kesinlikle tehlike altında" statüsünde bulunan bir dildir. 2013 Yılında kurulan ve Avrupa Birliği tarafından desteklenen Laz Enstitüsü 7 Kasım tarihini Lazca Dili Günü olarak kutlamaya başlamıştır. Bu günü tercih etmelerinin sebebi ise İlk Lazca gazete 7 Kasım 1929'da yayınlanması ve Laz müziğinin unutulmaz ismi Kazım Koyuncu'nun 7 Kasım'da dünyaya gelmesidir.
Laz is a language spoken in the Eastern Black Sea region of Turkey and in some parts of Georgia. This language is in the "definitely endangered" status according to UNESCO's Atlas of Endangered Languages. The Laz Institute, which was established in 2013 and supported by the European Union, started to celebrate November 7 as the Laz Language Day. The reason why they chose this day is that the first Laz newspaper was published on 7 November 1929 and Kazım Koyuncu, the unforgettable name of Laz music, was born on 7 November.
