Technology as a medium to connect and to repair broken bonds

Problem / Challenge
Hikikomori syndrome is a form of severe social withdrawal characterized by adolescents and young adults who become recluses in their parents' homes, unable to work or go to school for months or years.

This phenomenon is the most prominent in Japan, with 1.1million of the population being classified as Hikikomori.

The extreme psychological detachment from the social world has been proved to worsen the effects of depression, social anxiety, agoraphobia and autism.
