Singapore - Traditional Provision Shops

Provision Shops, also known as Mama Shops. They were very common in the city in the 1980s and early ’90s, selling anything from spices, canned foods, cigarettes, magazines and newspapers, and even steaming hot curry puffs and other snacks.
With the cost of rental, having to upkeep their stores and maintain a steady cash flow, many Mama Shops were unable to cope and have since shut their doors and gradually faded from our void decks.

Since it is a dying trade in Singapore, I wanted to capture the essence of these Mama Shops before it goes unrecognized in the future.

The way these photos are edited is to represent how photos can become discolored overtime due to sun exposure, especially when it is an "old" photo. The edits are to imitate the traditional photos taken in the past.
