The genre I chose to promote my brand was Travel & Tourism in a Fine Art style.
I followed the ‘Derive’ idea used by Guy Debord and ‘Situationist International’ and walked randomly through the streets of Manchester photographing key landmarks as I came across them. I chose the genre as I like the fact that travel, i.e. walking, gives you freedom and engages your senses. I used an iPhone camera, rather than my DSLR, and apple maps to track my route more in keeping Debord and his group, who carried a notebook and street map.
I have chosen four artists (French) and a Neural filter to layer over the images.
I felt it would challenge me to use more conceptual images rather than raw photo images, allowing an impression of buildings/landscapes rather than actual detail the camera records to allow the viewer to fill in with their own ideas.
