Movie Moment: Spiderman - Final Shoot

First some test shots and setup of the shoot. I t was a challenging photoshoot. Creating fake rain proved to be more difficult and frustrating than we originally anticipated. It was a very time consuming shoot where the proper lighting and focusing of the subject and the rain proved to be difficult.

These next photos are the ones I am going to choose from as my final movie moment image.

Creative Direction
My intention is to recreate the movie moment from Spiderman.
.
This piece posed quite a challenge for me, with it being set outdoors in the rain. I realised quickly that it would be too complicated to try and shoot out in the rain. I then decided it would be more of a challenge to try and recreate the rain indoors. Spiderman is suspended upside down and Kirsten Dunst is soaking from the rain and so this look would have to be recreated as if the picture was taken outdoors. These aspects of the photograph also posed a big challenge for me. The characters are engaging with each other and Kirsten has a big smile on her face. This is the moment right before the infamous upside down kiss in the rain.

Location
Although the location is set in an alleyway the photo is so close up that the shoot doesn’t have to be taken in an alleyway. It can be taken across the studio space to create depth in the background.

Models
Spiderman – I will be using a Spiderman morph suit and putting a polystyrene mannequin head inside the suit and suspending it from above.
Kirsten Dunst – I will be using one of my class mates Lauren for the role of Kirsten Dunst. She has dark hair and fair skin like Kirsten.

Props
I will create fake rain using long lengths of sellotape, weighted down by coins. I will then suspend them from bars in the studio as a backdrop.

Wardrobe and Styling
A Spiderman morph suit will be used for Spiderman.
Lauren will be wearing a wet tank top and her hair will be wet

Technical Considerations

Lights
Direction - According to the shadows, the direction of the light is coming from directly above the characters. There also appears to be a light coming from the front right hand side of the photograph.
Colour Temperature - The colour temperature is quite warm, however it is quite a harsh light.

Camera
Nikon

Action
The shoot took approx. 5 hours hour including set-up and light test.
I shot about 200 photos which gave me a good range of photos to choose from. I also took a number of photos with different hand positions to the original photo shoot to add more character and life to the photographs.
