What is a Recommender System?

What is the operation of a collaborative recommender system?

The weighted sum of the known ratings from that user for comparable things is the anticipated rating for an item for a certain user.

Collaborative filtration in daily living
Asking a buddy from the wine club, who you know typically enjoys wines similar to your own, in their opinion on a new wine they've tried would be the equivalent in real life to this.
