Cover, topper and center spread ideas I put together for the special tab we had waiting in the wings if Obama won the election. All the photos were the South Bend Tribune's except for the cover images, I believe.
The Forty Under 40 event is always fun to do. Arranging those 40 mug shots is not. And finding endlessly creative ways to present them can be a challenge.
This was just fun. Cartoon figures like this were popular on quite a few sites and I was asked to mimic the style. Popping the little figures in and moving a good chunk of copy off a normally copy-heavy page worked out well for the tone of the story.
I redesigned the Tribune Business Weekly tab for the South Bend Tribune to give it a more modern feel. Up to this time, most covers were complete stories often with limited or no art. The photo presence became the focus with minimal copy in the style of other magazines at the time. I believe the photo here was sourced from the Associated Press.
