Some Hindus hold that oneparticular deity represents the Supreme, while various deities are lesser manifestations of this Supreme. These gods,together with millions more, are considered to represent either one supreme god or one singular, transcendental force calledBrahman (not to be confused with the Brahmans, a priestly social class).

Several forms of Hinduism are henotheistic; this implies they acknowledge just one Supreme Being, but beneath it are the deities and goddesses, each capable of manifestation from every source.

It is however important to realize that Hinduism is highly varied, and while certain codes of belief are broadly accepted amongst the majority of Hindus, it is very difficult to pinpoint beliefs universally accepted across all denominations.
