A N G E L C I T Y F. C. | Crest Design
I was fortunate to be one of 3 designers who was offered to work on the first Women's Football team of Los Angeles, Angel City FC's crest design.
The process of working with the founding members of the team, being able to collaborate seamlessly, the level of thought and detail that went into these works from all sides has been a unique experience for me as a designer. It had to be timeless. It had to incapsulate the diversity of the communities that make up Los Angeles. It had to understand the history of these lands and what that means for the future. It had to be powerful without being too masculine or feminine. It couldn't be a representation of a single race, it had to be all about unity, one family, one team!
Below you will see my works that I presented for the Angel City FC's crest. The club decided to go with one of the other designer's, Amedea Tassinari's work, at which she did a great job on and I congratulate her for that.
| Approach
When designing the crest for the first women’s football team of Los Angeles I wanted to base my ideas on few main pillars. I looked at history, culture and art from pre-colonial times to today. I wanted to honor the values of those who lived in these lands from then to today. I looked at the city’s history as the capital of entertainment, what did sports look like in LA then and what will it look like in the future.
