This particular project resulted because of a Skillshare class I was taking. In this class, we had to develop our own typefaces as well as create a quote poster. I'm still finalizing my type which will be revealed in due time, but I was able to finish this quote poster with no problem.

 

For the class we had to select a favorite quote to work on. My favorite quote is a bit too long for this project so I picked one from my top 20. 

 

Anais Nin is one of my favorite poets, so I felt that it was only right to pay homage to her in this particular Skillshare project.

I started off by figuring out alignment and hierarchy. Which words did I want to have the most importance? Did I want something extra in the design like an illustration? Or did I want to keep it simple? Once I got all of that established I moved on to finalizing that sketch.

After finalizing it, I scanned it into my computer and dropped it into Photoshop. I spent a bit of time cropping and cleaning it up a bit before moving it over to Illustrator. In Illustrator, I did a Livetrace on it and went through the process of adjusting things, changing the colors, and playing around with the overall feel of the piece.

Here is the final image. I wanted it to be on the sketchier side. It's imperfect just like love. Let me know what you guys think.
