ECHO | Music Artist Website Case Study

Echo, the Music Artist

A Music Artist Website where the fan can find out more about this new artist called Echo, about her new second single song, album, and previous album.

My Role

During these six weeks, I was mainly involved as a UI designer and worked alongside the other members of the Elize Designer Team.

The Starting Point

After we've done a Stakeholder Interview with Leonardo Araujo, Lead interactive Designer at RCA records, I come up with the following assumptions to start working on the project.
Before Sketching Wireframes

We did team ideation using How might we and Crazy 8s and brainstorming different ideas about how might we get attention from new fans to curious about Echo?

Keeping in mind with the goals, needs and challenges we set, I did the first paper wireframes combining the insights from the competitive analysis and Ideas from ideations process.

Are we really on right track?

Small iterating were made during Low-fi prototype and the Mid-Fi Prototype. After we're ready with a protype for user testing, our research team did user testing interviews and did infinity mapping. By utilizing infinity mapping of the research team, I came up with the key research Insights to iterate my design

The Final Designs

In the overall design, Echo Logo and her album designs were repeatedly used intentionally to get attention from the users.

What would be my most internal struggles?

Since there was no concert show in my country for the past year, it was difficult to find a volunteer who could perform user testing. So I just did unofficial user testing, asking my friends to take look and give some opinions.

The music industry in Myanmar is not very online-oriented. There is no practice of pre-saving/pre-ordering or selling tour tickets on websites in my country, and artists use social media primarily to market their songs.

What would you change if you looking back?

I would change to have a cool background Video for more user engagement. More features like games, quizzes, and echo’s handmade process would add to the echo lounge.

I would also do another round of user-testing to see if the current iterated designs is enough to meet with Goals, Needs & Challenges we set.

Final Thoughts

I learned how music artists are creating their websites to promote themselves and their albums in this new industry. We had great teamwork and had opportunities to learn from each other, especially during the ideation process. It was also a good opportunity to acquire new tools and build presentation skills.

I would like to express my gratitude to Elize, Leo, Adobe Ambassadors, and the Adobe teams behind the scenes, and last but not least to the Amazing Design Team. I have learned a lot from each and every one of you.
