Synopsis
Hidden Waters is a women’s Spring/Summer 2022 evening wear collection. This collection dives into the world of The Great Barrier Reef and explores the beautiful marine life that it is filled with inside. The Great Barrier Reef has many different types of fish, mammals, and corals that come together to form one unique ecosystem. Each organism brings its own bright colors and distinct shapes that form a diverse community that thrives on the gentle balance of life. Over time this delicate world has been exposed to vast amounts pollution and climate change causing the environment to undergo stress. This collection highlights the vivid colors, various shapes, textures, and subtle patterns that can be found throughout the ecosystem, but also shows how this beautiful place is on the verge of disappearing.
Bright pops of color, such as, vermillion, cerulean blue, and imperial purple were pulled from the various tropical fish and coral found in The Great Barrier Reef. The neutral creams, blush pinks, and beige browns used are to help tie in the collection, and were pulled from mammals like the dugong, dolphins, and sea turtles. Fabric weights range from light to medium. Lighter weight chiffon, charmeuse, and taffeta are used to create pleats, ruffles, or draping on the gowns and voluminous skirts. Lace is strategically put at key points to embellish the rim of a garment. The blazers use mohair wool and polyester fabrics that have a smooth and polished finish. The silhouettes for this collection have a classic and elegant appearance with a mixed use of beading and original prints, which are carefully placed to emphasize parts of the garments.
The person who would shop from this collection is relatively around 25-40 and has a well-established job that allows them to buy designer clothing. This person has a busy work life and many formal events that they must attend. They want to wear garments that have a timeless silhouette but still make a statement, therefore they would look towards this collection due to its sophisticated, bold, and chic aesthetic.
