An outdoor installation of Meadow by Leśmian
The Polin Museum of the History of Polish Jews is a modern cultural institution.
It is so unique that it was created especially for social dialogue - serving the ideas
of openness, tolerance and historical truth. In 2016, the Polin Museum was awarded given the prestigious award: European Museum of the Year. On the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the poet’s birth, Bolesław Leśmian - the Polin museum invited me to cooperate with the project of the Outdoor Installation entitled ,,Meadow by Leśmian".
It is a project of a small urban space in which cultural events might take place as well as evening film screenings and meetings and workshops to activate the local community.

The Outdoor Installation project "Meadow by Leśmian" consists of a recreation part, an arrangement of greenery, a small visual information system and a part of an outdoor exhibition. It brings closer the figure of the poet Bolesław Leśmian and his work.

The Recreation Part are wooden leisure platforms with hammocks, suspended above the herbal - flower meadow. They penetrate gently run through between the hills surrounding the building, perfectly fitting into the natural landscape. Under the platforms there are hidden loudspeakers that emit sounds of a real, wild meadow, prepared by the sound director Bartłomiej Woźniak.

An important part of the installation is the exhibition presenting the title poem "Meadow" enriched with interesting informations about the poet’s life

"On planes plaines with irregular shapes, I designed a graphic composition of geometrical and organic shapes referring to the subject of the meadow. They are the background to of the presentation of poetry illustrated with monochromatic drawings depicting plant motifs and insects - taken from the text. I wanted to obtain interesting shapes and contrasts, with a fairly limited palette of colors, referring to the modern, raw body of the building.

The project had to attract attention and at the same time be balanced and engaging for the users of the installation. So the key to me was the readability of the content so as to ensure access to art for people of all ages. The large installation is also visible from larger distances.
To spice up the presentation and keep visitors longer - I decided on simple interactive elements that also carry an educational value. Under the moving tablets plates with a botanical drawing, a short information about a given plant is hidden, which also appears in the content of the poem. "

Project – The Outdoor Installation ,,Meadow by Leśmian " is a deliberate selection of natural materials: wood, plywood, combined with neutral coloring, referring to nature. It is also the arrangement of greenery and the selection of plants, so as to faithfully convey the mood of poetry and move the user from the crowded Metropolis - to the meadow. A wildly expanding space, fragrant with herbs, flowery native vegetation, on which senses and love fantasies come to life. The Outdoor Installation of "Meadow by Leśmian" created by us is a space for meetings with culture as well as a place where the local community meets with pleasure. A place that aims to make new friendships and inspire you to look for beauty in the world around us.
